What do we need learn in schools?

I think that school education in some sense is broken. Note that I discuss Russian school system but I think that some of my points are relevant to American one or worldwide. So, in my opinion schools don't teach children some necessary stuff which would significant improve their life and overall well-being of society. I think schools should have more:

  1. Education of healthy life and security rules like first aid, actions during terrorist attacks, self-defense rules, digital safety etc. Some startups have already started to do this like Safefity, but I think it will be more effective to study this staff at schools;
  2. Learning adult practical staff like cooking, apartment or car renovation, cleaning and so on;
  3. Philosophy of life (what is the meaning of life? what is the happiness? what is the world about it?) - it definitely should improve humans decisions and as a result quality of life;
  4. Sex education (Russian schools are totally bad at this);
  5. Soft skills like negotiations, solving conflicts, making discussions and so on;
  6. Progress studies (broader picture about this topic gave Jason Crawford in his article).

I hope that these things will appear in our school's programs. But there is tricky question - instead of what subjects should we teach these things? Partly, instead of some strange subjects like traditional upbringing lessons or military training (which occur in Russia!). Partly, due to the gradual increase of the period of study in our society. Partly, on account of extra-curriculum activities which will be hold by edtech startups or some non-profits. In the end I hope there will be long-awaited school reform!
